Job Title: Assistant Activities Coordinator

Job Objective: Assists the Activities Coordinator with planning and implementing activities for all residents.

Authority: The Assistant Activities Coordinator reports to, and receives directions from, the Activities Coordinator. 

Major Responsibilities:

  • Works with the Activities Coordinator in the planning, scheduling, and implementing activities for all independent and assisted living residents.
  • Assists bus driver (when needed) in driving vehicle(s) for daytime and evening excursions such as shopping trips, appointments, van rides, and field trips.
  • Assists in major event planning, i.e., annual spring tea, summer barbecue, Christmas party, etc.
  • Helps maintain current and attractive bulletin boards in all buildings.
  • The assistant is familiar with all residents.  Assists with annual re-evaluations.  Participates in new resident assessments.  Works to successfully integrate new residents into the community.
  • In a positive and supportive manner, reminds, encourages, gathers, and escorts residents to and from activities and entertainment.  Tracks attendance at activities and includes on the monthly report.
  • Uses computer to create signs and schedules.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and helpful relationship with public, private, and community organizations that are available to assist seniors.
  • Organizes, maintains, and keeps the photo albums current.
  • Participates in annual program evaluation.  Makes suggestions for improvements for the coming year.
  • Participates in a semi-annual inventory of all activity supplies and equipment.  Orders new supplies as needed.
  • Assists with volunteer coordination.  Recruits, trains, and monitors volunteers.  Assists in maintaining a volunteer database to include important and legal information required by DSHS.
  • Works a flexible schedule to accommodate the seven-day-a-week nature of our business.
  • Willing to wear a pager and be on-call.
  • Handles special projects as requested.

Physical Demands: This position requires someone in good physical condition.  The assistant needs to assist the residents as they get on and off the vehicle(s).  The assistant needs to be able to lift and carry boxes and bags up to 20 pounds for short distances.  This position also requires the driver to be behind the wheel for up to one hour at a time.

Special Requirements: Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record and be able to obtain a commercial driver’s license.  Must be computer literate.

Job Title: Full-Time Receptionist / Administration Assistant

Job Objective: To contribute to and support the Village’s mission of providing a sense of home and the positive attributes it brings to each of our residents.

Authority: Reports directly to and receives direction from the Office Manager and Executive Director of the Village.

Major Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the smooth and orderly function of the front desk area.
  • Answers telephone within tree rings in a courteous, warm, and professional manner.
  • Greets visitors and residents in a professional and friendly manner. Ensures that visitors sign in.
  • Handles resident requests (in person or telephone) in a discreet, courteous, and tactful manner. Follows up promptly on all commitments to residents.
  • Provides clerical support such as word processing, data entry, copying, faxing, and filing. Supports departments and staff where needed. Creates flyers, resident information, and communication when requested.
  • Checks fax machine for incoming faxes on a regular basis during the business day and distribute to the appropriate departments in person or interoffice bins.
  • Leaves detailed messages, emails, or texts for the Office Manager and Executive Director to allow proper follow-up when needed.
  • Ensures that the supply/copy room is maintained in an organized and clean manner. Orders office and department supplies accordingly, reviews order cost with Executive Director for prior approval, audits deliver for accuracy, and distributes to departments.
  • Opens, date stamps and distributes incoming mail daily in a timely manner.
  • Makes sure outgoing mail gets the proper postage on it and is given to the mail person or is dropped at the post office.
  • Inputs resident's work order requests in a timely manner and in accordance with urgency, follows up with resident or maintenance team when needed.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Oversight of all aspects of the assisted living program, the residents, and staff.

• Previous leadership/supervisory experience in a related healthcare setting preferred.
• Working knowledge of the Washington State Regulations governing assisted living preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy.

Job Title: Maintenance Director

Description: At Daystar Retirement Village we select staff who show integrity, patience, pride in their work, and enjoy having fun while doing it. As the Maintenance Director, you are responsible for all things maintenance and housekeeping, therefore this position plays a critical role in ensuring the community is attractive, well-maintained, and safe for our senior residents and staff.

The Maintenance Director leads 2 FT housekeepers and 1 FT Maintenance Tech to assure the building's interiors and exteriors are maintained to the highest standard achievable. The director actively participates as a member of the team and is committed to working toward team goals. This position is a working manager position. The maintenance Director will make repairs in occupied apartments, as well as repaint and shampoo carpets in turnover units, will provide leadership, training, and development of assigned staff members is responsible for the implementation of the community Safety Program, performs safety audits/checklists and emergency drills, just to name a few

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Must pass DSHS Background Check
